This page is dedicated to all those questions you have but either are too afraid to ask in front of a group or you just don't know where to look. I should point out that these 'answers' are only the current thoughts on those of us involved with The Healing Spirit and that different people will have differing views.

- (Question) What are Shakras or Chakras? You are correct with the first word in terms of pronunciation, and the second in general Western translation. The word Chakra comes from the Sanskrit meaning wheel. It is more commonly believed by some Eastern Philosophies that the word implies energy wheel. These chakras spin in order to ensure that there is a proper balance of energy within the body. (This a really basic answer, books have been written on the subject, and in certain quarters there is disagreement over the exact nature and purpose of chakras, but for the time being if you want? you can accept our simple answer!
They say a picture can speak a thousand words - here is the proof. These are said to be the seven main Chakra points on the Body - going from base (at the bottom) to the crown (above the head). Of course what a lot of people forget is that the Chakras are not two dimensional as shown on diagrams. Some believe that they are like a vortex, being the same at the back of the body as they are at the front.

(Question); I want to put up an Altar, where is the right place?
This all depends on the purpose of the Altar and also the religion or tradition you are following, if indeed you choose to follow an established one at all! From a Feng Shui perspective the family altar should be placed in the East, for Mentors or Heavenly help - this should be placed in the North-West Sector. If you are to establish a shrine then this should be on the top floor of the house, however, if there is to be a representation of the Lord Buddha, then this must not be in the bedroom - since it is disrespectful to have base activities taking place in front of him - a yellow curtain would need to be placed in front of the image. A number of people from Nature Religions believe that an altar should be placed in the North sector of the house or room. My own tradition states that if possible the alter should be place facing the East - towards Jerusalem and also to meet the rising sun! The main thing is that it must be practical for its uses - and take into account the layout of the house or room. However, most important it should feel right for you!

(Question) Don't you think it is about time that there was a Governing Body to oversee the work of so called Spiritual Development Groups?
In a word "YES," a number of us have been concerned about this for some time. This is why I developed the Checklist for Spiritual Groups, since I am aware of some who claim to be Development Groups, but who know nothing about Spiritual matters, unless it has been written in a glossy magazine with lots of pictures. My advice would be to use the checklist on this site - then you can't go far wrong.
(Question) I am confused about auras, I was recently told that I had a blue aura and that this meant I was a natural healer, but still needed to go on a healing course to learn how to use this - or that perhaps I was in need of healing myself.
This is a bit of a cop out as far as I am concerned, I am fortunate enough to see auras, and what I see is that the colours of auras are in a constant state of change in terms of their colours.
People also need to know that there are different layers of aura, see below:
Most people initially see the auras on the physical plane, especially the etheric and emotional layers. However, as you can see there are diferent layers and as you gain more experience you will both see and feel the energy of the different layers.
To get started why not look at the aura of a candle, from this go on to look at the auras and energy of trees, then try and look at people - especially if they have a pale background behind them.
