Church & Religious Activities
As most of you know The Healing Spirit is a Celtic Christian organisation. Although we are based in the Forest of Dean we look to Scotland for our articles of Faith as well as guidance in religious beliefs and practice. The Celtic Church in Scotland is one of our guiding lights. Like the Celtic Church in Scotland one of the main differnces between the Church of England and the Church of Rome is that we reject the concept and belief of 'Original Sin', in other words when a child is born we believe that it is pure and carries no sin or any other impurities.
The name of our Church here in Coleford is Anum Cara - meaning soul mate or soul friend. The ordained minister being The Reverend Christopher Greig McNeish.
Anum Cara is a small informal Free Church, which opens its doors to anyone in need. You don't necessarily have to be a member of the Celtic Church, however, in order to participate in the sacraments we would expect you to be a member of:

- The Scottish Knights Templar
- The Holy Gallic Church (incorpating The Celtic Apostolic Faith and The Sacred Order of the Celi De)
- The Apostolic Celtic Faith
- The Order of the Holy Theotokos
- The Independent Celtic Church International
- The Celtic Communion with Christ
- The Celtic Apostolic Church
- The Celtic Order of St. Adamnan

So as you can see The Celtic Church has survived intact.

Why is there a bar at the top and bottom of the cross? This is part of the Byzantine tradition. There is a story that the two bars represent the two thieves who were crucified with Christ. However, the one at the top represents the thieve who recognised Jesus as the Messiah and who asked to be remembered in the next Kingdom. The bottom bar represents the thieve who mocked Jesus and who stated that if he were trully the Messiah he would take himself down from the cross. Of course you can see who was at the top and at the bottom!
Christmas Service
The Celtic Liturgy will be recited on Christmas Eve starting at 10.00 p.m. The Vigil will then take place until Christmas 12.30 a.m. For more information please contact The Reverend Greig McNeish at The Healing Spirit.
